Baking Bonanza: Birthday Bash

Heya Nesters! This weekend I was delighted to be graced with the presence of my Dad. You see, his birthday is today and he decided to come take a trip up here {from NYC} for the weekend to see family and friends.  And Saturday night we planned a nice dinner together in my humble {and dinner table-lacking} abode.

Welcome Mat

What is it about being genuinely welcomed into some one's home that gives you the warm and fuzzies? Maybe its the home cooking and baking, or just the hug of a friend or family member... Or maybe its just a really great foyer.

I love the girlie shabby chic cozy foyer. A perfect place to hang your hat! {Or scarf!}

Cage My Heart!

Heya Nesters! I bought a new accessory for my little nest at TJ Maxx a few days ago and this prompted me to rearrange my whole bookshelf. I love vintage-esque birdcages.  Something about them are so majestic and lonely and mysterious and pique my curiosity.

Fall Bouquet: Part 2

A few weeks ago, my mom gifted me a bouquet of gorgeous roses from her garden that only bloom in the late summer just before fall hits.  They were great while they lasted but while at Trader Joe's on Friday I decided to treat myself with a true "Fall Bouquet."

If I had a Million Dollars: Living and Lounging

Hi Nesters!  When you have guests over, you want to have your living spaces as welcoming and chat-friendly as possible.  Along with comfort, you have to have style. I love the idea of a luxurious vintage Parisian inspired space.  That's why on this weeks If I had a Million Dollars, I would want my living room to have lots of warm cream colors and cushy, cozy furniture that has an old-world European feel.

Cartography

Hiya Nesters!  I'm excited to be introducing a new piece of art into my apartment soon.  I've been anticipating it so much that I've been looking at all kinds of rooms as inspirations. Can you guess what I'll be receiving from the UPS man soon?

Bean there, Done that

If you havent noticed, I've been on kind of a Autumn kick recently.  {Note: It's not even official until tomorrow.} Maybe its because I grew up here in Boston but Fall, to me, is a symbol of New England. I think many people would agree.  Whether it be the Halloween tales of Salem, just down the road or the leaf peepers taking their treks, I have a feeling others understand what I'm saying. And what is more authentically New England than Maine based corporation LL Bean.

Baking Bonanza!

Good Morning Nesters!  I found myself in a seriously productive mood this weekend. Saturday morning, I got to hang with Mom a little and started sewing a dress I'm making for a wedding we're  going to in November.  Then Matt and I went to scare our own pants off by going to see the movie Devil.  After a good nights sleep {thankfully without any nightmares! That movie was scary!} we got up bright and early and headed out to Stow to Honey Pot Hill apple orchards.

If I Had a Million Dollars: Working

Heya Nesters! Happy Friday! Todays' If I had a Million Dollars focuses on the space where you put your nose to the grindstone. The spot where you channel all your creative or analytical thoughts, jot them down and put them to use. That's right: your office.

You guys remember mine right?

Mid Century Addition

Heya Nesters!  I made a little detour on the way home from work last night and trotted over to pick up my newest Craiglist find.  Check out the snapshot that lured me in...

Ooolala... pretty enticing, right!?  I'm just pullin' your chain. It looks pretty dated but I had a vision.

Fall Inspiration

The air has become crisp in the last week or two here in New England.  You can start seeing just a hint of leaves changing colors.  You may recognize this image of Boston Common in Autumn...

I've been so mesmerized by the colors so I thought I'd share with you some rooms that give me the feeling of fall, coziness and tranquility.

Bathroom Breakthrough

Hey Nesters! A happy Monday morning to you all! Okay... I know... the word Monday is not exactly synonymous with the word "happy" but I have to admit, I am one happy camper today.  Yesterday was a productive day for me and the nest. First thing, while my tea kettle was heating up for my morning Lady Grey, I cleaned the kitchen and did the dishes.

I hadn't even finished half of the cup of tea before I started maniacally cleaning the bathroom.  Oh yes, we're talkin': in PJ's, on hands and knees, with my gloves, bathroom-grout-relegated toothbrush and my spray bottle of Clorox and some Scrubby Bubbles.  I was Not. Messing. Around.

If I Had a Million Dollars: Making and Eating

Eating. Everything in my life revolves around eating. {It doesn't help that I love to cook too.} When Matt and I go on dates: we love to chat and laugh over a good plate of food. When I spend time with my girlfriends: We make sure to find a new spot to try a new drink or a new stack of nachos. When I'm spending time with my family: we cook for hours on end and scarf it down in a matter of minutes.

Keepin' Time

Heya Nesters!  I have been struggling with placing of my Brimfield Fair pocket watch clock.

And I finally found the perfect solution.

Pillow Sham II

Heya Nesters!  After an early holiday escape from work yesterday I headed home with all intentions to nap before my yoga class.  And then the urge came over me... the urge to sew.

What was next on my hit-list of sewing to-dos? More pillows of course!!

If I Had a Million Dollars: Sleeping

If I had a million dollars... what would my house look like? That's right- I said "house" not "apartment."  This is, of course, in a hypothetical world where I may be able to *gasp* OWN my home. So I guess that would just make my blog "Nest" at that point but I think that's pretty much been taken.  But I digress... This will strictly be a spectator sport where every week I'm going to compile a list of inspiration for one particular room. AKA: online coveted belongings I would buy for my house if I had a million dollars...

My inspiration is the house in Father of the Bride and the sequel Father of the Bride II...

"And don't trample the pansies!"

"Ask not what you can do for your blog, but what your blog can do for YOU!"

And that is my question for today, Nesters. What more can I give you?
Do you dig the DIY's? More sewing tutorials?  Do you want to see more shots of the house? Do you want more shopping-on-the-cheap tricks?  Is there a specific part of the house that I haven't told you about but you've caught a glimpse of and want to know the "deets"?  I write this blog because it makes me happy.  But I also write this blog to make you guys happy and help you along with fun ideas.   So I want to know what makes you tick, lights your fire and gets you off the couch to make something fun for yourself.  The kind of project where you dust off your hands at the end and pat yourself on the back with a huge sigh of relief and accomplishment.

So let's hear it. I want you to fill up my inbox with questions and recommendations!  What can I {and Temporary Nest} do more for you?

Doppelganger?

Morning Nesters! Remember this throw pillow I made recently?
