Office makeover ... the 1,716th edition and counting...

Heya Nesters!

This office has been my little cube of inspiration.  I don't have to compromise on anything in here. It's all Gina. All the time.  And I've been doing project after project working on this little space. And sometimes they work out. And sometimes they don't.

Not all that long ago this is how the desk side of my office looked.  Then I upped the ante with a new rug and the new desk.

Yummy, right? The pair really brightened up the space. But it was still really cluttered.  I hated the way there were so many mismatched things on that wall. I needed something that tied it all in together and was kind of organic.  Then I came across Destiny's blog: A Place For Us.  And she had the most inspirational DIY confetti wall

And I am a big hater of "copying," I prefer seeing an inspirational idea and pulling something else out from it, putting your own spin on it.  That's what creativity is.... But this time, I straight up copied.  So I will take no credit for this.- Destiny- I don't know you but your gorgeous office space was jaw dropping and I am a total copycat. I'm sorry and thank you.

Using Destiny's instructions I went to WallsNeedLove.com and found the vinyl dots.  You can then choose what size you'd like.  It would be interesting to use 2 different sizes for confetti, particularly if you were doing a childs' room or  different colors. I went with the smallest 2"dots. Also in the gold. They were $22 for one sheet {which completed my entire wall} and I got a coupon code for 20% off which took care of most of the $5 shipping.

And you'll notice the frame hanging in the center. Well that once was being put to a different use as an inspiration board I had made.

And it just got so busy.  It wasn't inspirational anymore.  It just looked ...messy. So I popped the center back out of it and decided to hang just the blank frame in all its antique glory.

And that gigantic pair of scissors are temporarily placed there, will hopefully be painted some color and hung in the center.   Now the question is what color?  White or Gold? I feel like the white will look really modern and the gold will just look really cool.  Because everything painted gold looks really cool.  Let me know what you think!!

I will also have to take some pics in the daylight tomorrow.

So there you have it Nesters! A quick $23 project that took me all of 30 minutes and makes a BIG difference.  It's getting there.  I have a million more projects on my plate coming up.  And we're having the outside of our chipping/flaking house sided starting Monday and we couldn't be more excited!  Soon all the hard work we've put in on the inside will also be evident from the outside!

On a side note, we also went to our friends wedding last night, where Matt was a groomsman. So if you don't follow me on Instagram @temporarynest here's a little snippet:

Hope you all had a great weekend like we did, Nesters!

She works hard for her money!

So hard for it, Honey!

Since I work so hard... I think I deserve a nice space to work, dagnabbit!  And let's be real- I am kind of over my office desk right about now.

I've had this desk since the beginning of time.  Okay, well, at least since the time I started using a desk for homework. {Kindergarten?}   It's done me well and withstood a couple smaller makeovers, and despite my best efforts to make it work, it just doesn't tickle my fancy anymore.

It's gotta go.

If I Had a Million Dollars: Working

Heya Nesters! Happy Friday! Todays' If I had a Million Dollars focuses on the space where you put your nose to the grindstone. The spot where you channel all your creative or analytical thoughts, jot them down and put them to use. That's right: your office.

You guys remember mine right?

Card Art

Heya Nesters! Last year sometime I went to an local artist community open studio.  Most of the art was out of my price range (which is nil) but one photographer {sadly, whose name escapes me} had some photos that really stood out to me.

Conference Room Makeover

We have some VIP guests heading over to our office on Tuesday and I've been scrambling to finish up our conference room rehab.  If we could tear down walls and rebuild we would but that just isnt in the cards, since if you remember in this post we rent our facility and have been since pretty much the beginning of time!

Deskessories

Sunday morning after a little R and R, I decided to pick up my behind off the couch and head over to Walmart with one of my girlfriends.  I made the trek for other reasons that shall remain a mystery to you guys for now.  {Insert evil cackle here}  But I was lucky enough to stumble across some other goodies while I was there!

Lay it out on the line... again...

Back in April, before I had even moved in, I was already planning where all my furniture would go. Remember I was testing out my lay outs in this post? Once the lugging of all my junk was finished, I ended up with a similar version of possibility number 4.

Hey... Nice legs...

Hi Nesters!  I am excited to report that after some crazy-busy weekends as of late, I had this afternoon to do some work and finish up one of my projects! Remember, once upon a time I had showed you guys my office space?  Well, after closer look, I realized I was unhappy with my desk.

Office Space

Heya Nesters! I'm gonna go ahead and ask you to come in on Saturday.  Just kidding!  Office Space anyone?
Enough movie references... I'm back with you today to show you my newly assembled, Hollywood-inspired workspace.

The desk itself has been with me since high school if not before then. Its a solid {NB: heavy!} slab of wood that my dad DIY'd by screwing a few metal legs onto.  Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the color of the wood, so you may be seeing a staining project coming up soon! And of course, you recognize Buttercup, don't you?  I also plan on replacing this bookshelf and its partner in crime which is on the other side of the room. I think I'd like something a little more substantial. {Don't you worry your pretty little head, of course I'll take you with me on that search!}  I took a square vase that I had sitting unused on my shelf and filled it with all my illustration markers. It will make it easy for me to find the color I want and I think it looks so fun!

My parents both went to art school so much of the art we all have in our homes were not bought. The centerpiece of the desk is a lavender silkscreen on silver metallic paper of 1930's Hollywood starlet, Greta Garbo. My faux Uncle Michael {my parents good friend from art school} designed and squeegeed it himself back in their hay-day.  This is and always will be one of my favorite pieces. The wall sconce, on the other hand, was an old purchase from Urban Outfitters that I was ready to sell on Craigslist until I realized this would be the perfect place for it.  Low and behold, I love the way this came together.

For a short while after college, I waitressed at a restaurant that shared a back alley with the Gap and it happened to be just after their Audrey Hepburn inspired pants stopped being advertised. While walking out one night, I noticed these plastic rolls of images of Audrey herself sitting on the stairs, waiting to be chucked. I couldn't bear to see that! So I took these 2 strips with me and they have been displayed for all to see ever since. They come with me everywhere.  Don't you love them too?

So that's it! What do you think? Success on redesign numero uno?
