Boston Picker
Heya Nesters! Do you ever have those mornings where you do exactly the same thing you do every morning, but for some reason that morning, everything takes twice as long? This morning was that morning for me. I leave myself two hours and fifteen minutes to get ready. That includes some light house cleaning, eating breakfast, making Matt and I lunch, and probably the longest portions: doing my hair and standing in front of my closet figuring out what to wear. Somehow I left my house 10 minutes late today. When I got in the car, I remembered that it was pretty much on empty. *sigh* Of course.....

Wednesday night I headed back to my Upholstery Class after work ready to start cracking away at my new piece. It was another trash pick from about a year ago that's been sitting in the garage of the Mama Dukes. Nesters, meet our next 'victim"...

Satine: A Fashion Review
Hey Nesters! Since the next upholstery class post may be the last post about Satine for quite some time, I thought we could bid her adieu by getting to who "Satine" really is on the inside. Except I suppose, since you watched me tear it down to the frame-work, we all know exactly whats really on the inside. But let me be weird and personify her take a stroll down ficticious memory lane and see how she started out, only to reintroduce you to next Monday as our newly made over, uber chic gal. So let's delve in, shall we?
Who was Satine before.....

Upholstery Class: Week 10
Heya Nesters. I can't believe I've already been posting about Satine for 10 weeks! Totally wild, right? I just can't wait to get her all dressed up and into a space to see her in all her velvety glory. I know last week you guys were all so sweet to tell me that my post was not boring. This week I will rival last weeks boredom! I kept hammering away this week, completing the nail head trim.

Upholstery Class: Week 9
Heya Nesters! Is everyone extra sleepy this Monday morning, thanks to Springing forward yesterday morning? I know I am. If you're an regular at visiting TN you'll know about Satine. Shes my awesome swing chair that I'm reupholstering in a class and imposing on you a weekly update. Shes coming along slowly but surely. I wish I could just work away for an entire day and get her done!! Alas... the studio where class is held is the only really conducive place to work on her. Ho-hum. Anyhoo, this weeks update, I fear, is exciting for me but may prove slightly boring for you all.

Upholstery Class: Week 8.5
Heya Nesters! Welcome back to Monday! Did you guys miss my upholstery class progress report as much as I missed sharing it? {But let's be real, throwing a super fun Jack and Jill baby shower for The Raz was well worth it.}
I do have some exciting news to share! I am taking another class at Broadway Upholstery School! And you know what that means, right? More Upholstery Chronicles for you guys! My new class started this past Wednesday evening, and I had my old class on Saturday as well! Two in one week! {Hence week 8.5} That means Satine has changed a bunch since you saw her last. Let's get started, shall we?
Last we spoke I wrote, I left you as I was adding the buttons to the back of the chair with the biggest needle I've ever seen in my life.

Upholstery Class: Week 5
Heya Nesters! Welcome back to Monday! You know what Monday means... Upholstery Class recap! It was week 5 {check out all my previous classes here.} and it was nerve racking and exciting all at once. After a fairly large {heart attack inducing} investment in fabric a couple weeks ago, I walked into class bright and early to be greeted by Kevin's cheery query, "So, ready to cut?" I had the same sinking feeling I got when I made the first snip into my final fabric from my senior collection in college. Do I really want to cut and therefore ruin this beautiful piece of fabric that I've put so much thought and moolah into?? That was what I was there for, right? Carpe diem, Gina, carpe diem. Just do it.
Because the class is so large, and the cutting table was occupied I was relegated to the basement to cut. It was actually kind of nice and peaceful being surrounded by some inspirational pieces under construction. If they could cut, I certainly could too.

Heya Nesters! And a happy Monday morning to you all! If you're a pop by on the regular, you know that I have been taking an upholstery for the past month. If you're new to TN take a peek at previous weeks: one, two and three. This week I finally brought in my fabric after big time stressing about it tirelessly all week.

Heya Nesters! Todays post is going to be a "quickie"! Yesterday, I alluded to my upholstery fabric debacle... well let me tell you, choosing a fabric that is the perfect color and most importantly the perfect price.

Upholstery Class: Week 2
Heya Nesters! It always comes back to Monday morning doesn't it? Well lucky for me, that just means I get to dish to you guys about my upholstery class!! {Which to me, is like even better than normal girl-talk.} So without further adieu let's launch into it.
Saturday's class, as indicated in the subject of todays' post, was week numero dos. I couldn't have been more thrilled to work my fingers to the bone bright and early on a weekend morning. I was greeted with as much glee and enthusiasm for class from Kevin and Pamela, as I was feeling. What a bright way to start a morning! This is what I came back to....

Feature on ModHomeEc!!
Heya Nesters! I know you don't usually get an odd, late-night post from me but I just couldn't go without telling you that Shelly over at ModHomeEc did a little feature on yours truly today!
As soon as I posted about signing up for upholstery class, she sensed my excitement and shot me an email because she runs an upholstery school! Sweet, right!? I was pumped to hear from her. She knows her biz-nass and she's been a great sounding board for ideas with the chair. And she even wants to chronicle the progress of Satine over at MHE weekly! Allow me to repeat myself: Sweet, right!? So head on over right here to check out her awesome projects shes sharing, as well as take a peek at what she's got to say about our friend Satine every week.
Lots of blog love and a big THANK YOU over to Shelly! <3

Upholstery Class: Week 1
Heya Nesters! Happy Monday morning to you all! Most of you know that this past weekend, I started an upholstery class. As soon as I signed up, I knew exactly what piece I would use. Meet my rollback slipper chair. I'm naming her Satine, as an homage to her Moulin Rouge-y vibe. {And I also named my first chair, Buttercup, so why not keep the trend going?} Isn't she a beaut?
