Basket Case

Heya Nesters! May I start off by saying a hearty TGIF to you all!  Spring is right around the corner and  so is Easter! And you know what Easter means.... BASKETS! I have a problem with baskets. I love them. Particularly if they are dark brown and/or have handles. I am a total "basket case"!  {I crack myself up!}

 Oh hello 1994!... Nice to see you again... I've missed you!

DIY Project: Girlie Bookshelf

Heya Nesters!  Well I have to admit, I kind of forgot to post about this DIY.   It's not entirely done but I thought it was dramatically different enough to show you the "during" portion. A while back {so far back that they were taken in the old apartment!!} I introduced you to this bookcase that my dad and I made when I was a kiddo. It hold sentimental value and I am a total sap so there was no way I could get rid of it. But at the time I made it I LOVED pink, flowers and Hanson. {I know... I not only dated myself but I made myself "that girl"}

Holiday Inspiration

Welcome back, Nesters!  Sorry I've been MIA but as I mentioned here, Matt and I spent a long weekend in NYC with the Pops, my brother and his lovely wife, and my nephew-in-the-making. We had an awesome time walking around the city, but most importantly cooking, eating and laughing to celebrate an early Thanksgiving.  While on the road, I lifted my holiday spirits by listening to every Christmas song I could tune into.  Needless to say, I am so excited for Christmas.

No really: So. Excited.

If I Had a Million Dollars: Making and Eating

Eating. Everything in my life revolves around eating. {It doesn't help that I love to cook too.} When Matt and I go on dates: we love to chat and laugh over a good plate of food. When I spend time with my girlfriends: We make sure to find a new spot to try a new drink or a new stack of nachos. When I'm spending time with my family: we cook for hours on end and scarf it down in a matter of minutes.

Headboard Doubts

I've said before that I've been feeling like a bad Decor Mommy to my Bedroom because I've been completely neglecting it. When I was living in my old apartment, my bedroom was the only thing I had all to myself and I truly put all my efforts into making it a luxurious space for me to relax {in an otherwise tumultuous household}. So, now that I'm in a place all to myself and have the freedom of having guests over, I've been focusing my efforts on having a space where my visitors will be comfortable {AKA the living room}and thus my bedroom decor gets tossed by the wayside.  *sigh*

But I'm tired of walking into a bedroom that looks like a catch-all. I want my sanctuary back...

Boudior Envy

Lately, I've been so focused on my living room decor that I've really been leaving my bedroom in the dust. I'm a little bit stumped as to how I want to set it up, and where I want to place images. {I'm still looking for the right Damask Wallpaper!}  So, I decided to look for a little inspiration to help me on my way.

Shades of White

Heya Nesters!  I decided to drop by my favorite discount retailer last evening: The Christmas Tree Shops.  Without having thought much about it before, the light dawned and I made a big difference to my living room.

Bathroom Bonanza

When you step into my bathroom, its like a time warp to the 1970s.

Ok ok, this isn't actually my bathroom... but its pretty groovy, right?

This is my bathroom.

It's really tiny but enough for just me.  This picture is making it look pretty darn good actually. But if you look a little closer, you'll see the bathtub is beige but the toilet is white, the vanity is somewhere in between {physically and color-wise} with a faux marble top. The tile on the walls are white with beige freckles and don't forget about that lovely beige border. But wait! There's more! The tile on the floor is beige 1/2"x 1/2" tiles {much like the currently popular mosaic tile} with the occasional brown tile thrown in.  Neato!

What's more problematic than the bland color scheme, is the storage. That medicine cabinet holds a good portion of nail polishes and vitamins and all the other first aide gear and cleaning supplies and things that aren't used daily are housed under the sink. But I have a slew of hair goo and lotions and all that good stuff that gets all of us girlie girls gussied every day... that is the only box that I still have not unpacked yet. So I've been thinking about how to utilize the space in my tiny little commode and get a space where once and for all, my doodads can find a home.

I really like the openness these two but I am a girl that likes things out of sight.  Having things that aren't meant to be seen, being seen is one of my pet peeves. No one needs to know how many leave-in conditioners I have in order to keep my locks luxurious! That means as much as I want glass doors on this cabinet it doesn't exactly lend itself to hiding things.  Let's take a look at a few styles that are little more demure.

 If my bathroom weren't so small and drowning in the color brown, I would probably have a dark wood cabinet.  Being that that is not the case, I will stick with white.  The simplicity of the last "space saver" with the small X elements at the top really is the the best combination that I've come across.  Another nice attribute of this one is that there are 4 legs with space between them. This removes the weighty feel of the solid sided pieces, which again is important when your bathroom is a wee one! {ha ha, "wee"}  Luckily, this one is a steal from Overstock!

What do you guys think? Do you like open shelving? Or are you like me and want to hide all your goodies?
