Heya Nesters!  I have a confession: I love Groupon.  It's a bad thing to be in love with. Baaaaaaad.

I've gotten deals on everything from yoga classes to bathing goodies.  All of which were turned out smashingly. {Forgive my British terminology, I am doused in Wills and Kate.}

Shhhhh I'm huntin' fabwic...

Heya Nesters! Well we were discussing the other day what to name the new chair.  I thought maybe I'd show you the "short list" of fabrics that I'm considering and see what you guys think!

Not So Temporary Nest

Heya Nesters!  I have a BIG announcement to make today.  I kept this to myself for a long time because I didn't want to jinx anything {I'm bad at doing that} or drag anything out for ever and ever.  Allow me to start at the beginning... about two months ago, Matt called me at home and started chatting about moving in together. It was always something that I had wanted, but wanted to wait until he was ready.  Things were made more complex with the fact that he already owned a condo with his brother.  So it was never as easy as "When is your lease up?"  He started talking about buying a two family house so that we could share it with his brother and his brothers girlfriend.  But I know many people house hunt for months and months and even years.  It look Matt almost 2 years to find the right condo to buy.  So I wasn't anticipating any action anytime soon.

Week 2: On FIRE!

Hey Nesters!  I have been galavanting around town working on my latest chair {yet to be named} here, there and everywhere! And boy do I have a LOT to show you!  First, I busted out the orbital sander to shred the finish off the wood.

I broke down...

... and finally bought the hand soap dispenser I've been coveting from Target for the last year.

Don't forget to look at the hot freckled tile and faux marble sink. H-O-T-T-T!

Week 1: New Beginnings

Wednesday night I headed back to my Upholstery Class after work ready to start cracking away at my new piece.  It was another trash pick from about a year ago that's been sitting in the garage of the Mama Dukes.  Nesters, meet our next 'victim"...

Sorry so blurry... Oh Android pictures...

Some "Me" time

No New Years resolution {or lack there of} has ever given me much motivation.  In fact, I kind of skipped out on the gym for the first couple months of the year since it was so packed with "resolutioners."  I have since been going more and more. And with getting back into the swing of cooking, I am definitely going to need to keep it up, because I'm no health nut.  I like rich foods with whole sticks of butter and cheeses and carbs.  Don't get me wrong, I love veggies, too.  But I'm not going to eat like a rabbit.  I'm going to enjoy my food.  I've been listening to Julia Child's "My Life in France" on CD in my car,  {Since 1.5 hours every day of radio gets a little boring.}  and I have a newly renewed zest for food since disc one.

New Vessel & Auntie Gina!

Heya Nesters!   As promised, I'd still be here but just a little less regularly.  So, here I am!  I had a smidge of extra pocket money, seeing as though I finally sold my bed frame  {for the asking price! YAY!} and got paid for my first ever custom furniture piece!  With cash in hand, I finally gave in and got a replacement for the broken glass vessel that the nest sat in.  Off to TJ Maxx I went!  I had been eying these fun vessels since mine broke, yet somehow $12.99 seemed outrageous.  This time I bit the bullet and went home as happy as a clam!

Hey Nesters! I've been doing some thinking lately and come to an important conclusion: I need more balance in my life.  Humor me and allow me to start from the beginning...  I started my blog, this blog, for me to share some fun projects I've worked on around the house, with being able to do some writing to boot. Somewhere along the line of writing, and doing projects... the blog took over nearly all my free time.  I would spend hours upon hours at night after coming home from work, crafting, snapping pictures or typing away.   As of late, I've been feeling increasingly overwhelmed by obligations {All of you Moms out there-  I don't know how you do it all. It is a mystery to me. I'm convinced you have a clone.} the main obligation being TN.  I used to love cooking elaborate dinners, even if only for myself. I would spend time, looking through cookbooks and, picking the perfect dish, grocery shopping at local fresh markets and hovered over my stove wielding my wooden spoon like the baton of a fine orchestra. Then, of course, I got to be able to indulge in my gastronomical delights.

I can't remember the last time I cooked on a work night.  Lately, its been more like cereal or cheese and crackers for dinner. Not to mention canned soup or frozen burrito for lunch.  That is blasphemy, considering that I now finally have my very own kitchen all to myself!  That is no way to live.  I have been so wanting to go back to the gym regularly again.  I go but not enough. Let's be real, everyone likes the tension-free, in-shape version of themselves better, right? No?

My culmination of this long-winded rant is this- balance.  I need to find a better balance in my life. Considering insomnia is off the list, in order to do all those things that I want to and feel less overwhelmed, something's got to give.  By this point, you must have figured out that I'll be taking a step back from the blog.  But let me be clear: I certainly will not stop writing.  I will absolutely have things that I'll be dying to tell you about. {That is, if anyone sticks around without a daily post. haha} I will still write about my upholstery class progress and projects. I am merely cutting the fat out.

The nights when I can't think of anything to write about, and I'm not "inspired," I'll skip wracking my brain for something about the ol' nest that I forgot to tell you...  or find a pic and force a quickie post.  I want to put my heart into each post I write. And I think you can read it if I don't?  Now I will be striving for quality over quantity.  So I realize I may lose a few of you if I'm not around as often but that's okay, maybe you'll pop by every so often to see what we've been up to around these parts.  In the meantime, I'll be a happier, healthier Nester.

I hope you all aren't mad at me. I'll still be here... just missing a day here and there. Has anyone else been feeling that way at all?  Maybe it's just me?  Well anyway... I just felt as though I needed to share so that you didn't think I was ditching you.  Of course if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email or go ahead and leave a comment.  <3
