Nestperation

Heya Nesters! Today we will be using gratuitous bird references because this jar that I found at TJ Maxx was oh-so-empty and needed to be fixed. I needed a nest like one that I fell in love with in Joni and Erics Apartment Therapy House Tour.

I wanted to try my hand at making my own nest instead of going the easy route of buying one so I on my last trip to Moms I asked her if she had any smaller vines similar to the ones she used to make these wreaths in order to start my nest.  As she was pulling semi-dried vines from our ivy encrusted garage, she realized she had a small birds nest that she had found abandoned in her garden.  She had been using it to garnish one of her large potted plants and was kind enough to give it to me.  Layered along with the vines that I wrapped in on itself to create a small hoop I had placed it in the jar and it was still missing something.

Moss. I needed moss for the bottom to ground it and make it have that true earthy feel. I made a bee-line for my local craft store and bought a package of Reindeer Moss for $3.99. I came home yesterday moss in hand and removed the nest, layered the moss in the bottom of the jar and replaced the nest. I also picked up a $.99 package of faux eggs.

I love the way it came out and it's my little homage to this wonderful new addition to my life: this blog.
