Love with Gatsby

When you work in the bridal industry like I do, you would be hard-pressed not to think about what your wedding would be like.  Even the most single, least interested girls end up flipping through the bridal mags that litter our office.

There is this house that I drive past to get to my grandparents house and for as long as I can remember and every time it has caught my eye.  Growing up, I thought I wanted to live there.  A couple of years ago my tune changed when the thought of getting married became a tangible, plausible possibility some day, yep, I want to get married there at The Hunniwell Estate.  Something about it to me screamed The Great Gatsby to me.  That's it: Great Gatsby themed wedding.

When Matt and I first started dating, I made the mistake of telling him this. Of course like any boy who listens to a girls wedding fantasies, he thinks she's crazy. But a wedding themed after a book that ends in death?  She's gotta be nuts-o. He even told his mom. Great. Now she's going to think I'm nuts-o too.

Well, apparently, I am not so nuts-o after all because this week one of my favorite blogs 100 Layer Cake covered a wedding photoshoot of a Southern Great Gatsby themed wedding.  It is a brilliant spread and I just had to share it with you guys.

Wonderful isn't it? Ethereal, vintage and garden inspired. I am so happy I'm not the only one that thought of this, either! I am not entirely over the edge. Now if I could just convince Matt of that...

Alright Nesters, it's time to dish. Share with us your secret, fantasy wedding theme.  Is it swamp themed? 80's themed? All-blue? Or maybe Gothic? Please share, so that I know others are just as sappy and lame as me.

  1. I don't think there's anything more romantic than eloping. Just the two of you, doing what you love, having nothing to prove to anyone but each other. You share the special day with the only other person on the planet that matters.

That and it's a whole hell of a lot cheaper!

  2. I suppose it depends on where you elope to! Where would you want to go? If I were to elope, I'd do it in Hawaii, on the beach at sunset. Cliche? Yeah, probably but thats the only place I could imagine doing it. But then I think I'd still want to go home and have a HUGE party with our friends and family! :)
