Transfer Fail.

Heya Nesters! We all have projects that we've tackled that haven't quite worked out.  The words "epic fail" come to mind with the thought of a few of mine.  This one, in particular.  I am mortified I even posted that. {shudder} With my most recent attempt, I am debating whether this one is a fail or can perhaps be rectified. 

 

 

Remember the gallery wall with the Christmas present canvas?  I had a plan for that blank canvas all along and I finally bucked up and did it.

Heya Nesters! Is it my imagination or are the weekends flying by even faster than ever before? I can't believe it's already Monday!  Where does the time go!? AHHH! I'm in the final countdown to the NYC baby shower for the Bro and SIL, which means anticipatory crafting overdrive!  But I still made time for my beloved upholstery class! And I was biz-eeeeeeee in class this week since it's crunch time and I want to fill you guys in on every bitty bit! So lets hurl ourselves into it, shall we?

If I Had a Million Dollars: The Love Shack

Heya Nesters!  I really am not a huge Valentines Day person.  Sure, we say "happy valentines day" with a smooch or two and have a low key day where I cook homemade ravioli, meatballs, sausage and my Nannys' sauce and watch a movie. But that's not out of the ordinary.  It's just another date because we love each other every day. I strive to be the sweet, made-for-Lifetime-TV-movie {minus all the obsessive stalker-y murders}, weepy-Hallmark-commercial, sappy romantic girlfriend all the time for him, not just on Valentines day.  So, in honor of loving every day and every night with my main squeeze, if I had a million dollars, I would have a looooooove shaaaaaaack! That is decorated for lovin' all year round!

DIY Projects: Happily Leather After

Heya Nesters!  A few months back I showed you my bookcase makeover from girlie pink to modern white. And I'm happy to say I have finally taken one step closer to being totally done with it.

Heya Nesters! Yesterday, my girl Liz at Bon Temps Beignet tagged me! Tag! I'm it! She excavated her purse and showed us the goodies that she can't leave the house without! I thought this would be a fun little exercise and since I was tagged, it's my turn!

 

This is my Nine West bag that was a birthday pressie from the Mama Dukes.  I spec'd it out and went with her to pick it out.  Then had to wait a grueling 2 months before I actually had it in my hot, one-year-older hands.

Heya Nesters! Over the weekend I had one helluva productive morning! I'll be showing you a couple of the projects I finally completed this week and today will be the first!  Remember way-back-when {5 months ago!} I was chatting you up about maps and how much I love them?  Well, with a little help, I finally got the age-old project up.

Upholstery Class: Week 5

Heya Nesters!  Welcome back to Monday!  You know what Monday means... Upholstery Class recap!  It was week 5 {check out all my previous classes here.}  and it was nerve racking and exciting all at once.  After a fairly large {heart attack inducing}  investment in fabric a couple weeks ago, I walked into class bright and early to be greeted by Kevin's cheery query, "So, ready to cut?" I had the same sinking feeling I got when I made the first snip into my final fabric from my senior collection in college.  Do I really want to cut and therefore ruin this beautiful piece of fabric that I've put so much thought and moolah into?? That was what I was there for, right?  Carpe diem, Gina, carpe diem.  Just do it.

Because the class is so large, and the cutting table was occupied I was relegated to the basement to cut. It was actually kind of nice and peaceful being surrounded by some inspirational pieces under construction.  If they could cut, I certainly could too.

Hi, I'm obsessed with Z Gallerie

Heya Nesters! It is FINALLY Friday.  {That just took waaay too long to get here.} And I am a very very tired little chickie today, which means today will be a lazy, picture post.  I hope you don't mind.  Now onto the goods:

So we all love Z Gallerie, right? I suspect the answer is "yes" and if it's not... chances are you just don't know what it is yet.  I will leave you with little words {thank you laziness/sleepiness} and many many pictures of all things I painfully covet from their magical website.

Heya Nesters! On Saturday, I was on my way home from upholstery class I made a little detour down a  side street I don't normally take.  Like it was destiny, there, sitting in the four foot pile of snow, was a gem of a trash pick - a broken chair. And it was mine. All mine.  Now you may be thinking, "Gina, why would you ever want a broken chair?" You'll just have to trust me on this.  But that's not why I'm telling you this story! Believe it or not, it gets better! As I was pulling the chair out of the snow, the owner came out and asked me if I was interested in any vintage hats.  She was moving and said they would just be thrown out otherwise, so I followed her to a pile of hat boxes.  I only went home with one adorable one that I am totally in love with.

Unfortunately for me, my cozy little nest I've rented, is not immune to this rule of thumb.
