Carnation Nation

I mentioned a while back that Megan and I took a flower arranging class. While in that class, a discussion was struck up about random kinds of flowers and how they could look much cooler than they were given credit for.  The main shock to Megan and myself was Carnations.  I scrunched my nose and scoffed.

You know what a carnation looks like! How could a plane Jane carnation look even remotely cool?  Well I did a little Pintrest hunting and I am SOLD.  Carnations might be my new favorite uber feminine flower....
I love them so much, that I made a whole board dedicated to just awesomely fabulous Carnation arrangements.   Take a look at some of these stunners...

The greatest part of the carnation is exactly what makes this arrangement amazing: texture.  They have these fluttery, ruffly petals that when grouped into a mass look feminine and modern all at the same time.

Of course who does anything (including flowers) better than Martha? Yeah, these gorgeous peachy pinky carnation base for name cards.  Brilliant.

More amazing Martha of course in fun vibrant colors.

A cluster of bridal centerpieces could not be more elegant in stark white.  And for your DIY pleasure, here is a step by step on how to make your own gorgeous carnation arrangement.

You'll be sure to see when I give this a whirl!! So are you sold now too? Way more incredible than you thought, right? I know.  I know.  You don't have to thank me for introducing you to this idea. Just drop my name when you tell all your girlfriends about it. ;)

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend so far!  Anyone make any fun flower arrangements this weekend? Or perhaps just admired some on Pintrest like me?

Spill it! <3

  1. My daughter has a friend who is an interior designer and also a party planner. As a wedding gift to her and her husband, he did all the decorating for their reception. When he suggested carnations, we about died, but he convinced us they'd be beautiful, and they were. You wouldn't believe how people raved about them. I'll send you some photos.

  4. So cool! I sent you some pics of my daughter's wedding reception. The party planner recommended carnations and calla lilies, and we resisted the carnations at first, but we were so glad he talked us into them. They were gorgeous.
