Starting Over

Hiya Nesters!  I hope you all had a wonderful {and safe} holiday.  I spent the good portion of the long weekend keeping up the packing momentum.  It got really bare really fast when I took down the gallery wall.  But the good news is that we've already accumulated some new goodies in the meantime!
HEMNES 8-drawer dresser, black-brown Width: 63 3/4 " Depth: 20 1/8 " Height: 38 1/4 " Width: 162 cm Depth: 51 cm Height: 97 cm

We made a couple trips out to the Stoughton/Avon area of Massachusetts this weekend, in attempt to take advantage of the July 4th sales.  We headed about 30 minutes south,  bungee cords in tow because they had a smattering of different furniture stores in one small vicinity.

Day ONE!

Stop Uno: Bob's Discount Furniture

Tribeca
This is the Tribeca Bedroom set.  I liked the simple lines of the espresso his and hers dressers and the under-bed storage.  However, Matt isn't a fan of the farmhouse look and -let's be real here- I hate the generic mirror and bed frame.  In real life, it just wasn't cutting it. NEXT!

Stop Dos:  Logan Furniture

This one, was a TOTAL BUST.  The most exciting part was the Bentley sitting in the parking lot. The furniture looked like poor quality, was all over sized and poorly designed.  We spent under 5 minutes in there. NEXT!

Stop Tres:  Jordan's Furniture Outlet and Clearance center.

This local furniture superstore offers pretty much anything.   {Even a 4D movie ride called MOM and an enchanted village during the holiday season.} This is where I bought my couch over a year ago and Matt used to be an employee at one of their locations, and they treated him incredibly well, so he knows what a good company they are.  And we always like to support companies that are good to their employees! We saw a gorgeous dove gray velvet living room set that we both wanted, but it's not what we're in the market for.  Oh well, maybe next time!  We also found a super comfy mattress set that was well below our budget and met our high mattress standards.  During this little trip into Outlet-ville, Matt's belly started hating him.  Like ... a lot.  It may have had to do with the two cookies he hoovered down when we walked in....  So we had to cut our day short of Ikea and come on home to nurse my handsome man-friend back to health.

Day Two!

IKEA!

HEMNES 8-drawer dresser, black-brown Width: 63 3/4 " Depth: 20 1/8 " Height: 38 1/4 " Width: 162 cm Depth: 51 cm Height: 97 cm

Well, day two was the one and only day that we purchased anything.  And its the lovely piece above.  Hemnes 8 drawer dresser.  Matt decided not to get the tall version of this dresser for the time being and use the one he has in his office.  We also narrowed down our other choices for our bed and fell in love with the matching Hemnes bed.
HEMNES Bed frame, black-brown Length: 79 7/8 " Width: 63 3/8 " Height: 82 1/4 " Footboard height: 27 1/8 " Headboard height: 47 5/8 " Mattress length: 79 1/2 " Mattress width: 60 " Length: 203 cm Width: 161 cm Height: 209 cm Footboard height: 69 cm Headboard height: 121 cm Mattress length: 202 cm Mattress width: 152.4 cm
Was it just our luck that it wasn't available in King while we were there?  We decided just to pop on over to the online store and have it delivered! No problemo! We headed home with a dresser in the trunk and a skip in our step, ready to order our bed.

Until I went to go add it to my cart and it's not available online.  Really, Ikea? Really???  I sent Matt on a mission to search eBay and Craigslist to find our future bed.  Thirty minutes later, I got an email with the subject line: Our Bed is in {insert name of Our Town}.  That's right.  Someone in the town to which we are moving, is selling the King size Hemnes bed in the black-brown color we wanted!!  So right now, I've emailed them and I am waiting to hear back.  Here's to hoping that we get it!

On the upside, I did pick up a lovely kitchen set from Craigslist yesterday!  $150 for the whole shebang and they fit in my car in one trip! Thank goodness!!

So as of right now, if we get the bed, all we need to get by is a mattress and box spring, which we will get after we move in.  I'll be bringing my bed for the guest room, so it's not like we'll be on the floor. *phew!*

So that's the latest and {long-winded} greatest of whats going on here!  What's going on with you guys?  Any good Craigslist finds? Dish!!

  1. I love the dresser! And am so jealous of your Ikea trip! I feel the frustration of not being able to order half their stuff online though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you get that bed frame, it's gorgeous!

  2. I love the dresser and that couch! We are keeping our old couch (for now) but would love to upgrade too :)

We are selling a few things on Craiglist currently (two bookshelves are getting picked up today!) so we can buy more Craigslist finds when we get to South Bend!

  3. Over the holiday weekend, I just bought the Oiva Toikka bird that I posted about, but some things I had bought earlier came in, including my HUGE yellow Michael Kors Hamilton Weekender. I'm pretty happy about that!
