Yep, it happened again...
Well... I'm finding this to be a trend. What, you ask? That I am coming back to you with my tail between my legs apologizing for having been MIA. While I am sorry, I have had a good amount of "stuff" going on...
Just after Thanksgiving, I turned the ripe ol' age of 27 and Matt and I went to the White Mountains for a weekend away. We spent most of our time and meals at the Mt Washington Hotel, despite not actually staying there. {Are you kidding me!? We couldn't afford that!}
Matt even treated me to a romantic sleigh ride around the grounds. I've always wanted to and now I have. It was absolutely frigid and to be frank, slightly awkward since we didn't want to gush about how much we loved each other in front of the driver, so we kind of just sat in silence. But it was nice to get some fresh (cold) air and enjoy the peace and quiet. Isn't he such a good dude for taking me on a sleigh ride? If only there was a ring at the end of it.... *sigh*
Lack of ring aside, let's see... what else has happened....
For those of you who don't know, one week after my birthday, at the beginning of December, I was laid off. I had known for months that it was ending but nothing prepares you for that first day not going in. The first few days at home were the "sleep late, cry a little bit, deal with unemployment and then call everyone who is still at the office one by one, just to see how things were going" days. Then I snapped out of it and realized I needed to jump on my Christmas shopping. What a perfect distraction, seeking out cute baby clothes of my nephew! Then wrapping became the task at hand naturally... I took closer care of my wrapping jobs this year than any other. I even wrapped Matt's presents to his family. Which were all large pieces of Ikea furniture, requiring half a roll of paper for each one. Oh the back breaking wrapping....
Once all the holidays, family visits and UNwrapping happened, I was lucky enough to get a position at TJX, the company that owns TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Home Goods, Winners, HomeSense and TK Maxx. As if I wasn't a big enough fan of them, now I am really a Maxxinista!
The main thing that I've been leaving you guys out on is how our house is shaping up. I can't believe that we've been living here for 7 months now!! {WHAAAT!? SEVEN?!} Slowly but surely things are coming together. I still have a non working camera and phone pics just aren't up to snuff but I can show you guys a couple pieces of art that are hanging in the living room. One we bought and one I made.
This little guy joined our household a couple weeks ago. We're still deciding what to name him. I'm rooting for George currently. *shrug* He just kind of looks like a George to me. We love him because he's a little masculine to satisfy Matt and he's a little whimsical and colorful for me!
And to show a little bit of "us" and who we are and where we came from I decided to try my hand in making some subway art! I don't think Matt really understood what I said when I told him I was making one. He wasn't sold on the idea. But he gave me the benefit of the doubt and I went ahead and made one for us.
And lookie what came out!! It's all significant things places, moments and things for us. We had my Dad color correct and print it at his office (He works for a leading printer company.) and we now have it hanging in the living room on the opposite side of the window as George.
Check it out!
A little glimpse at our mismatched lamps and our work-in-progress home. More to come soon, I promise.
Thanks for sticking around and reading this and I have a few things up my sleeve for you guys soon!
