Bachelorette Pad Tour: Part Duex

I thought I'd start off this long-ass post with the latest news on the house and move: There have been some setbacks.  Everything is all good, it happens with every renovation.  But I was supposed to move last Saturday and it has been postponed until Friday, the 15th.  My landlord was kind enough to let me leave half way through the month as extra "just in case" time.  Turns out we needed a little extra "just in case" time for the reno's.  Here's whats going to happen:  On Friday we get the Uhaul and move all the junk out of my apartment and into the basement/garage of the new homestead.  Since the floors will be in the middle of being re-done, we will have to leave it all down there without moving it directly into the space.  From Friday until the floors are dry and ready to be walked upon, I will be staying at Matt's condo with him and his brother. Once everything is all cured and ready for our tippie toes, we will move all my and Matt's belongings into our place and we will officially be "merged."  Y-I-K-E-S!  I am so excited to be in the house and out of box jungle!

Anyhooz... back to the imperative topic at hand.  And that should have been at hand a couple weeks ago when I finally gave you the first true House Tour.  Alas, things around here have been such a mess due to the move, I haven't had much energy to clean up my bedroom. But I did it.  And I did it just for you guys.  So if I may implore you, lets begin Part Duex...

Welcome to my boudoir.  It's never quite had the serene feel that I was going for with it.  When I was in my old place, my bedroom had this distinct feel of warmth, organization, coziness and homeyness.  Perhaps it was forced excessive cleanliness due to space {or lack there of} but I never achieved that feeling with my current bedroom.  You all remember my feelings in the Love. Like. Loath. post.  Well, what have I accomplished since then?

Really, I've only sold my bed frame.  I am still hating the Almond Blossoms poster above the bed. But the good news is ... It will be down as of tonight!

Remember the white bookshelf makeover, basket dilemma and leather cushion?  Here are all three of those in action!  You can even see the lovely little pink toile tin bucket that is the home to all of my hair tools. I picked it up a while back when I needed a place to store them that I wouldn't have to fear putting my curling iron or hair dryer in while still piping hot!

Since a basket wouldn't do, this little guy jumped out at me at the Christmas Tree Shop for $2.99 and I took her home with me.  We haven't parted since.  She might not match {like at. all.!} but she's been for me since day one.

Here is a dead-on look at the dresser as you walk into the room.  I don't know that I've shown you guys my keyboard yet?  I got it for Christmas before Matt and I started dating.  I had no man in my life and I was going to take advantage of my "me" time.  I was going to yoga 3 times weekly, and swing dancing once a week.  I have always wanted to learn to play the piano, and there is no time like the present!  I asked for piano lessons as well for Christmas.  I ended up getting this keyboard and the "Piano for Dummies" book.  I had all the right intentions but then I met Matt. And when you fall in love with and see a fella' every single day for months on end its hard to keep up with all that "me" time.  Now that I have my "me time" back, I just haven't gotten back around to learning how to play. *sigh* Some day.  Any nice pianists out there willing to teach a poor blogger in exchange for homemade cookies?

I was also always stumped at what to put on the wall above the keyboard.  I had so much else going on in the room, I opted for leaving it blank.  *shrug*  No need to worry about that anymore!

To the right of the bed is my handy dandy little collapsible hamper.  Stolen from one of my ex-step-sister, {Yes you read that right. Once was step, is no longer.  Remember Cinderella and her evil step sisters?  Yeah something like that....} it has done me well over the last decade.  We all know my love affair with this mirror as well. *swoon*  Okay, so now I am going to show you something that I never imagined I would reveal on this here blog.  That's right. I'm opening the doors to expose the mess that is my closet.  *deep breath!*

Well, hello Mr. Giant White Square hiding in my closet!!  Wondering what that is perhaps? Remember the post from yesteryear when I took my silver utility shelving unit turned TV stand and softened it with white curtains?  {No, you probably don't because I think at that time I was impressed with having 1 person read. At all. Ever.}  If you're in the massive group of people that don't, it stores all of my flats as well as baskets that house my shorts, sweaters, tank tops and over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders.  That's right. I'm totally weird about how I categorize my clothes.  You may not be able to tell but the blouses are actually in some semblance of color coding. Yellows in to whites into pinks into reds into blues into blacks into greens.  Strangely, the skirts are not at all in any order at all.  Go figure.  Above are more baskets and containers holding belts, bags and gym clothes.  You can see the hanging shoe rack, but what you can't see is beyond that, is another hanging shelf that holds more shoes.  I have way too many shoes.  {That I don't wear but refuse to donate/consign for some unbeknownst reason.}  That's about it for where the magic happens.  It's remarkably un-special. I can't wait for us to make our new bedroom something special for the two of us.

Meandering away from the boudoir and heading to the last and littlest room in the house: the bathroom.  Since nothing much {except this} has changed in here {and I'm lazy} for quite some time, I'm going to cheat and use old pictures.

This print from my Dad's collection, flocked with two iron sconces from the dollar store.  Opposite that is the lovely "antique" vanity with faux marbleized basin.  Oh the shame.

I picked up the pintucked shower curtain form TJ Maxx for $19.99 a few years ago.  I like that its simple and crisp white, but just adds texture. It's versatile for any color scheme. Even in my bathroom-- which I like to affectionately refer to as "puke brown." <3

My mason jar obsession was kept alive in the bathroom with the use of one as a toothbrush holder. Even to this day, it makes me smile.  It's the little things.

This framed art was from Joe and Molly long long ago.  They picked it up from a street fair from a  local Seattle artist from when they were living there.   She watches over me as I pee.  She loves me.  Just like my toile bucket. <3

So there you have it, Nesters! That is the last you will probably see of this little nest.  {Adieu, Nest! You've been a trooper through all my crazy projects! Thank you!} The new nest is coming together already!  The only room left to be painted in our house is our Master.  It had the most wallpaper -that has now been steamed off- and needs to be sanded before priming and painting can begin. But it is the last of the rooms and we are waiting for the floors to be redone.  Then will be the real move in.  For now, things will be moving into the basement. And don't worry I will show you before and after pics!

Hope you Nesters enjoyed that long winded second half of the house tour and that you are making it through the week!  Next up.... the MOVE!

  4. Does anyone know what happened to the young woman who owns this blog? She just seems to have disappeared. Should we be calling the police to have them do a welfare check?
