Nanny's Suitcase

Hiya Nesters!  Today I'm going to show you one of my favorite little understated portions of my apartment. It's a suitcase that I found on a random rummage through my grandmother's {Nanny's} attic in Maine many many years back.

Tealicious!

Hiya Nesters!  This morning- like most mornings lately- I've been getting up with my eyes still closed. I shuffle to the bathroom for my steamy morning wake-up shower. Most of my shower is performed also with my eyes closed. Only once I emerge from the powder room and turn on 'Good Morning America' do I start turning into a normal, cognisant human being.

Why Couldn't I Commit?

Heya Nesters!  Welcome back to Monday!  Hope you all had a nice weekend.  Let me start by saying I have been spending far too much money lately.  With Christmas around the corner, I am trying to tighten my belt.  But did you guys notice something missing in the reveal of my nightstand mirrors?

I don't have any throw pillows on my bed!!  I know, I know. What kind of a faux interior design fan am I?!

If I had a Million Dollars: Pack-Rat

I love organization. I believe in labeling and everything having its place to be put away. Clutter is the product of not having a place for everything to go. I find that even though my closet is three times the size than it used to be, it is still busting at the seams.  That's why, If I Had a Million Dollars, I would build myself one really kick-ass walk in closet slash dressing room. And my girl Mariah has done it like no one else has...

Hello, Beautiful!

Heya Nesters!  I'm always grazing the sprawling fields of the Internet and magazines for inspiration.  I have found some heart stopping images that I couldn't wait to share with you guys! But this one above is my favorite. They cool gray of the wall brings such a different depth to this layered vintage wall.  I thought the modern vessel sink was such an interesting choice to juxtapose against the aged pieces.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall 2

Heya Nesters!  Yesterdays post was all about the bargain leaning floor mirror that I scored at Walmart. That wasn't where the bargains ended for this this gal. Oh no, I hit the jackpot at The Christmas Tree Shop.  Every bedroom design image that sticks in my brain is one that involves mirrors above or behind matching nightstand lamps.

Mirror Mirror on the Wall...

Do you ever have those shopping trips where you plan on getting absolutely mundane things like soap or hand lotion and you walk out with forty dollars worth of amazing deals? I had 2 of those this weekend.  Good bye, Money. It was nice knowing you!  But man I scored this weekend when it came to mirrors especially.

Remember a while back I started the hunt for the perfect {and perfectly priced} leaning mirror?  Oh. Yes.  I found it.

Scent of a Woman-- er Room

Happy Friday Nesters! I think we're all feelin' that this has been one heck of the long week.  So lets wrap this week up with a light and airy topic:room fragrance!  We {in New England, at least} are prepping for the long haul of the Winter and inevitably longer Spring and we're battening down the hatches.  There will be a stretch of around six months where my windows stay shut {give or take...} and my house unavoidably becomes stuffy at times. I like to remedy this the old school way, with candles.

Things I'm obsessed with at Anthropologie

Heya Nesters! Well, I have been perusing Anthropologies' website and as of late, I've wanted everything. Come on you know you've been in the same spot.  Their furniture often makes cameos in the If I Had a Million Dollars segments. So lets just admire some of their amazing things.

Spooky Display

Hiya Nesters! Today I want to show you part of my window display for Halloween. {The rest I'll share with you soon!}  You may remember my beautiful bouquet and gourd arrangement that adorned my silver chest of drawers in the living room.

Well, the window display got a little spook-tastic...

If I Had a Million Dollars: Fancy Feast

Heya Nesters! When I say Fancy Feast, no, I'm not talking about the cat food. I'm talking about hosting and feasting in style.  With the holidays fast approaching we all are reassessing our formal dining spaces, as they will be withstanding an endurance test shortly.  In my current tres, tres petit chateau, my dinner parties consist of sitting around the coffee table.  So If I Had a Million Dollars, I would have a serious Thanksgiving-dinner-worthy formal dining room.

Peter Peter Pumpkin Carver

Heya Nesters! Good Monday morning to you all and of course a happy Columbus day weekend for those of you who have today off! {That does not include myself, I still have to work and that requires two thumbs way down for that...} This weekend has been a whirlwind of a weekend for this gal. Between trying to recover from the dregs of this lingering cold, and shooting over to hang out with the visiting Joe and Molly, I carved myself a fabulous pumpkin.

Love with Gatsby

When you work in the bridal industry like I do, you would be hard-pressed not to think about what your wedding would be like.  Even the most single, least interested girls end up flipping through the bridal mags that litter our office.

There is this house that I drive past to get to my grandparents house and for as long as I can remember and every time it has caught my eye.  Growing up, I thought I wanted to live there.  A couple of years ago my tune changed when the thought of getting married became a tangible, plausible possibility some day, yep, I want to get married there at The Hunniwell Estate.  Something about it to me screamed The Great Gatsby to me.  That's it: Great Gatsby themed wedding.

Back in action

Heya Nesters.  I'm back in action today... sort of. Still a little tired and worse for wear, but on the rebound from a pretty terrible bout with influenza.  Anyhow, I decided I wanted to keep it simple today, no need to over-exert myself, right?  So lets take a peek at some cozy homes that make you think "Gee, if I had to be under the weather, doing it there would make it somehow more bearable."  Or maybe that's just me...?

Out Of Office

Hey Nesters.  I am writing to you from my disgusting, tissue-ridden, medicine laden apartment. I have procured myself a terrible head cold-- which explains the lack of post today.   I'm pretty sure I'll be out of commission tomorrow too, unless a miracle happens overnight.

On a side note- I took a bubble bath for the first time today {in an effort to steam the crap out of my respiratory system} and it was so relaxing and serene. Not to shabby for a tacky beige on beige, 70's bathroom.

I'm hoping to be back in action Friday.  Until then, wash those hands of yours, take your vitamins and stay healthy!

DIY Project: Reveal of Lexie's Night Stand

Heya Nesters! I have an exciting reveal for you guys today. I've been waiting with bated breath to grab the final reveal shots of this oldie but goodies.  Check out the before posts right here and here. So without further ado, lets take a look at the journey.

It sure was a humble beginning.  The piece is nice, however, I had visions of its potential grandeur.

DIY Project: Wine Case End Table

Heya Nesters! Good Monday morning to you all! I hope you had a nice weekend.
I have a nice little treat today! I hope you enjoy!

You remember my dad, right? He just had a birthday and Matt and I crashed his NYC apartment right here. He is one creative dude. A degree in art and a prolific photography portfolio prove that, however, I have learned a good portion of my DIY skills from him too.  As a kid he taught me how to swing a hammer, whittle some balsa wood and some basics of woodworking.  So it didn't surprise me when he sent me an email with a fantastic DIY project that is so simple it needs no directions!

If I Had a Million Dollars: Bubbles and Suds

Heya Nesters! Many of you would agree: most women love their quiet time alone in a bubble bath with a book and a few candles.  Just a little while to let the world melt away and sink into the warmth blanket of the water and the fantasy world of your book.  But it's not easy to do if you have a crummy little bathroom like mine.  So If I Had a Million Dollars: I would have one helluva bathroom.
